The First Thing You Must Do to Create an Inspiring Space Like an Interior Designer

When a designer meets with a client and begins to discuss their space, the first thing the designer does is try to understand the client’s lifestyle, including their likes and dislikes and their needs for the space.

Before anyone can dive in and design a room, it’s essential to understand how the room is going to be used, who is going to be using the room, and what their preferences are

More likely than not, a room will have more than one function. Understanding the desired mood for the space while also understanding and capturing the major functionalities needed for the space is key to any successful interior design.

The three questions you MUST have a clear understanding of before you start designing a room are:
  1. What is the lifestyle of the people who will be using this space?
  2. What are their specific preferences and tastes?
  3. What is the objective and budget for the room?

Even when designing a room for yourself, it’s important to step back and ask yourself these questions. This way, the end result is not just a beautiful space but also a functional one.
