Let’s Create Built-Ins for my Husband’s Whiskey-Inspired Office

After countless designs, redesigns, and more tweaking, we have finally landed on the perfect layout for these built-in cabinets.

This is a massive piece of furniture, expanding 16 feet wide and 10 ½ feet tall, so we are breaking this build into two phases.

Phase one will focus on the lower portion of the cabinets, which will be comprised of a combination of cabinets and drawers. We are building this out of poplar since we’ve decided on a painted finish.

The cabinet doors and drawer fronts will be inset, but I’m still contemplating which door front to choose. I love quarter-line shaker facing, but I’m wondering if I should go with something more traditional. What do you think?

The finishing touches will include beautiful polished nickel hardware, which will be the perfect contrasting addition to the bronze hue of the paint we choose.

In phase two, we will be adding some upper shelving. We have an idea of the ratio and proportion, but given the size of the furniture and the height of the ceilings, we want to see the bottom half in place first to ensure the final piece doesn’t look top-heavy.

I can’t wait to share this build with you! I still have a little time to decide on the door fronts. What would you choose?
