Creating a Custom Waterfall Edge Entryway Table

While this project is from the past, I thought it deserved a permanent home on MoureDesignStudio.com, so why not take a little flashback? This is my first DIY build. Inspired by Studio McGee, I created this multi-layered waterfall edge console table.

This piece is solid pine and weighs quite a bit! I couldn’t be prouder. I determined the dimensions I needed and edge-glued the pine boards together to achieve the required width for each tier. I then beveled the edges of the boards to the proper length and assembled the table, working from the outside in.

I decided on a dark wood stain, but this was before I had a clear direction for the mood of our house. Now, I’m contemplating changing it. I’m naturally torn between two opposite directions—either sanding it down to make it lighter or painting or maybe even stain it black. Sanding it down will definitely be more work, though… What do you think?
